Team Pulse & Labor Command

Target Audience: VP of HR, Director of Operations, Plant Manager
Core Value: Labor Cost Attribution & Workforce Optimization

The Problem: "Black Box" Payroll

Labor is the largest and most volatile expense, yet often the least tracked. "Black Box Payroll" occurs when management pays for 40 hours of labor but cannot attribute it to specific revenue sources making true margin analysis impossible. Manual scheduling leads to coverage gaps and chaos.

The Solution: Context-Aware Workforce Management

I architected a Team Pulse & Labor Command Center that digitizes the employee lifecycle. A "Context-Aware Time Clock" forces a link between labor hours and specific Project IDs, bridging the gap between HR (Payroll) and Operations (Job Costing).

The Commercial ROI

  1. True Job Costing: Replaced estimates with actual labor costs per unit, identifying margin-bleeding jobs.

  2. Administrative Velocity: Reduced payroll processing window from hours to minutes.

  3. Audit Readiness: Created an immutable, timestamped digital paper trail for labor disputes and safety audits.

Technical Architecture

  • Context-Aware Time Clock: Enforced mandatory linked ProjectId selection upon clock-in. Server-side duration calculations prevent client-side manipulation.

  • Visual Resource Allocation: Integrated FullCalendar with real-time Firestore listeners, creating a multiplayer scheduling interface that updates instantly on all dashboards.

  • Batch Governance: Implemented a writeBatch approval layer allowing managers to lock 20+ time logs in a single click, ensuring payroll data matches job costing data.
